      WHAT IS IT?

      • A heavy metal used as a pigment in paints, coatings and anti-corrosion paints, as well as in drainage pipes for wastewater and in the form of sheets on roofing.
         
      • Its properties:
        • corrosion inhibitor
        • improves the drying and resistance properties of paints
           
      • Lead has been prohibited in Switzerland since 2005.
         
      • Lead is present in nearly half of the buildings in Geneva in paintings dating from before 2005.
